Let's go back to December 1988, the very first edition of the Leuven Christmas Market is a fact. Immediately it becomes clear that it will not be the last time, because several thousand visitors immediately find their way to the H. Hooverplein, while the Mgr. Ladeuzeplein is being fully reconstructed.

 

Meanwhile, we are 36 editions far and many hundreds of thousands of people have come to visit us. Last year, the Leuven Christmas Market attracted just over 600,000 visitors, many of whom also travelled to the centre of Leuven from abroad.

 

Make a note of the dates of the 36th edition: we open on Wednesday 11 December 2024 (at 11am) and close on Sunday 22 December 2024 (at 8pm). You can visit the H. Hoover and Mgr. Ladeuzeplein every day from 11am to 10pm. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday even an hour longer because then the gates close at 11pm. Please view our plan here

 

This year too, we have provided a few novelties.

 

The ‘Grand Café Rudolf’ returns in all its glory and is freely accessible during opening hours for all those who want to enjoy a hot or cold drink. You will find yourself in a beautifully decorated and heated winter bar with plenty of seating.

 

You will find ‘Grand Café Rudolf’ right in the middle of the Ladeuzeplein.

 

Santa is also seeing things a bit bigger this year. Not only can you find him in his own habitat but he is surrounded by a delightful retro carousel and a merry-go-round in the shape of a Christmas tree with seat in the baubles!

 

Things get really special with our Christmas Tower. This structure was built for us in Germany and will be on European soil for the first time during the Leuven Christmas Market. The tower is almost 20 metres high, 15 metres wide and will be brought to Leuven by special transport. 

 

Of course, there are also the many stands where you can go for that one present you are looking for to put under the Christmas tree. The Ladeuze and Hoover Square will also be the place to go for a snack.
